I
just recently returned from a trip to Ireland. I have to say that, despite a
few little mishaps, and a very long flight, I enjoyed it. While in Ireland I
learned a great many things, most of which is Gaelic, or as the locals call it
Irish. I learned all about castles and houses and crystals and foreign
currency. However, there are five rules that I learned in Ireland that will stick
with me forever. They are,
1. If
you have never driven on the “wrong side of the road” while driving on the “wrong
side of the car” and you find that you are drifting towards a curb, have your passenger
hold his or her hand out, or hold your own hand out, so that you or your
passenger will push the curb away from you, thus preventing you from running it
over.
2. Apparently
it is perfectly okay to take off your cloths and hop in the sauna even though
you are surrounded by people of both sexes. (A rule which should absolutely
come to America!)
3. If
you are using a foreign G.P.S. and cannot figure out how to get the thing
working properly, have a map as a back-up, or at least someone with a phone
that can tell you where the hell you are.
4. Under
NO circumstances should you ever enter a pub, anywhere in Ireland, and interrupt
a dart game.
5. When in doubt, have another
pint.
